"Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.” Acts 5:38-39
The disciples had seen it all, Jesus’ death, his resurrection; they’d experienced the Holy Spirit, now they were ministering powerfully. The body of believers was growing rapidly. The Good News was spreading.
Yet the hearts of the religious leaders were hard, jealous - they threw them in prison - only to see another miracle as they walked free and continued to teach and preach the Good News. The religious leaders were furious - nothing short of death would satisfy - until the ever wise Gamaliel stepped in - For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.
We have seen the faithfulness of God at GT 95+ years of history, of victory. God is in this - we know that because we can see the legacy, we know the stories - our stories are woven within the tapestry of the faithfulness of God in Victoria. Each with our own experience, our own background, our own heritage. The common thread that weaves each story together has been the unstoppable power of Jesus - who has set us free. Each one of us - no matter our story, our legacy, our culture, and He has not finished.
What a testimony - to see the love of God that isn’t marked by conformity, but diversity.
Our diversity that is powerfully marked in unity.
Our individual heartbeats - woven together by God’s grace and love. To bring all these beautiful pieces together in love - at the hands of man? Impossible. But at the hands of God? Unstoppable.
Dream with me.
To proclaim Jesus is Lord - in our own voice, our own uniqueness.
To hear many voices rise, young and old, accents and dialects, sopranos to basses all proclaiming the goodness of God, how He has forever changed our lives. One heartbeat echoed in many voices.
To be known by our unified testimony of the love of God. (John 17:23)
Now that is the image of revival, of awakening, that I am praying for. That our city would be only the beginning. We can have confidence as we cry out for a mighty move of God to fall on all. We can have confidence - this move that was begun all those years ago - is not the plans of man. God is up to something and He is unstoppable.
Do it again Lord!
